🔍 TrueSight Chrome Extension
Detect whether online videos are real or AI-generated — on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, news sites, and more.
TrueSight combines GPT-powered analysis of video frames (via the Chrome extension) with public metadata (via link scans) to estimate whether a clip is likely human-made or AI-generated.
Requires Google Chrome desktop browser. For the most accurate results, use the extension (frame-based scan).
🌐 Quick link scan (metadata-only)
Paste any YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok or other public video/post link and let TrueSight run a metadata-only beta scan.
If the page doesn’t expose enough useful metadata, you’ll see an “UNCLEAR – insufficient data” verdict and we’ll recommend using the Chrome extension for a higher-quality frame-based scan.

🔑 Extension for serious checks
For the most reliable verdicts, install the Chrome extension. It analyzes real video frames instead of only metadata and is better suited for everyday and professional use.
📦 Key Features
- Works on major platforms: YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and many sites that use standard HTML5 video players.
- Chrome extension performs frame-based analysis (standard scan uses 4 frames from the video itself).
- Link scanner runs a metadata-only quick check when you paste a URL here.
- Simple red / green / yellow visual signal for instant verdicts.
- Privacy-conscious design — frames and metadata are sent securely to the TrueSight backend and are not used to train public models.
💡 Use Cases
- Check viral clips before sharing or resharing.
- Support research and journalism workflows.
- Media literacy in classrooms and training programs.
- Brand safety and creator vetting for marketing teams.
📥 How It Works (Extension)
- Install the TrueSight Chrome extension.
- Open a video on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or another supported site.
- Click the TrueSight icon to start a scan.
- The extension captures several frames from the video plus relevant context and sends them securely to the TrueSight backend.
- You see a verdict instantly: green = likely real, red = likely AI-generated, yellow = unclear / insufficient data.
🧪 Deep Scan+ for journalists & teams
The standard extension scan uses 4 frames to keep scans fast and affordable. For higher-stakes investigations, we can enable Deep Scan+ modes with more frames and richer analysis.
- Configurable multi-frame scans (e.g., 8, 12, 15, or 20 frames).
- Better temporal coverage to catch smooth synthetic motion.
- Ideal for newsrooms, investigators, risk & compliance teams.

❓ FAQ
Does TrueSight upload my data?
The extension sends a small set of captured frames and context to the TrueSight backend so the model can analyze the video. Data is transmitted securely and is not used to train public models.
What does the color icon mean?
Green: likely human-made, Red: likely AI-generated, Yellow: unclear or insufficient data from the current scan.
How many scans do I get?
The web link scanner includes 10 free scans for quick checks. The extension has its own free and licensed limits which you can see inside the TrueSight popup.
Does this work only on YouTube?
No. The extension is designed to work on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and many other sites that use standard HTML5 video players. Coverage will keep expanding over time.
Why do I sometimes get “UNCLEAR – insufficient data” on link scans?
Some platforms expose very little useful metadata to the page (or hide it behind scripts). In those cases, a metadata-only scan would be misleading. TrueSight instead shows an UNCLEAR verdict and recommends installing the extension for a full frame-based check.
